The ONWA KV-290 is a robust marine radio with an integrated DSC controller (Class D) for reliable communication and safety at sea, along the coast, and on large inland waterways. The KV-290 has a transmit power of 25W, GPS support, and an NMEA0183 interface. The KV-290 features simple operation, clear sound quality, and a compact design.

The KV-290 DSC built-in marine radio is available in two variants:

With built-in GPS function and BNC connection. (separate antenna required!)
Without built-in GPS function. To use the GPS data required for DSC, you must connect the marine radio via NMEA0183 to a device with GPS functionality, such as a GPS chart plotter or AIS transponder.

The correct marine radio certificate

The KV-290 marine radio can transmit at 25W and features DSC Class D and other characteristics of a combined marine radio. This means that you must have a Marcom B certificate before you are allowed to use the KV-290 on your ship.

Sail Trade can (temporarily) disable these Marcom B related functions so that you can use the KV-290 marine radio with just a Basic Certificate. As soon as you have also obtained the Marcom B certificate, you can send the KV-290 to Sail Trade, who will then reactivate the Marcom B related functions for FREE. Please inform us by email.
